Reflections on our participation at SPIE Photonics West 2025

SPIE Photonics West entrance hall
From 28 – 30 January 2025, the world’s leading trade fair for the optics and photonics industry took place in San Francisco. Over the three days of the trade fair, SPIE Photonics West offered more than 24.000 visitors a complete market overview of everything that is currently moving the optics and photonics industry and will shape it in the future.

Attending the exhibition was an exceptional experience for our team. We had the privilege of engaging in numerous stimulating conversations and were delighted by the substantial interest shown in our glass molded micro-optics and lens arrays. The event provided us with a wealth of valuable insights into the needs of optical components for various industries, such as data communication, medical technology, sensor technology, and laser applications. Additionally, we gained numerous new ideas that we are eager to explore further.

Our booth was a focal point of activity, attracting many visitors keen to learn about our capabilities in precision molding of complex micro-optics and lens arrays. It was a pleasure to present our innovations and discuss potential applications with such an enthusiastic audience. The feedback and interest we received were truly inspiring and reaffirmed the significance of our work in this cutting-edge field. In numerous discussions, we have received confirmation of the precision and accuracy of our lenses, which continue to be highly valued by our customers.

Conversation at SPIE Photonics West 2025
Key Topics in Optics and Photonics

In addition to the engaging discussions at our booth, Photonics West 2025 highlighted several key themes that are shaping the future of the optics and photonics industry. The following are two top topics that dominated the conference program and their relevance to our micro-optics and lens arrays:
    1. Biophotonics and Biomedical Optics: The application of photonics in the biomedical field was a prominent theme. Innovations in imaging, diagnostics, and therapeutic techniques were showcased, highlighting the transformative potential of biophotonics. For example, multi-channel imaging and real-time fluorescence technologies enable the simultaneous display of multiple image sources, facilitating the identification of anatomical structures and fluorescent markers such as tumors or blood vessels. Our micro-optics are pivotal in enhancing the performance of biomedical devices, enabling higher resolution imaging and more precise light delivery for therapeutic applications. The interest in our products from the biomedical sector was particularly encouraging.

    2. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning: The growing importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) applications has led to an exponential increase in the demand for data center capacity. These technologies require immense computational power and efficient data processing, driving the need for high-performance and energy-efficient data centers. To meet the increasing demand for precision collimator arrays in hyperscale data center networks, INGENERIC offers customized fiber collimator arrays. These components can significantly reduce energy consumption by improving light distribution efficiency within data centers. Our advanced technology not only enhances performance but also supports the industry’s shift towards greener and more efficient energy use.
With our deep understanding of replicative glass optics manufacturing – from in-house ultra-precision tooling to glass forming – we can provide excellent support for these promising technologies.

Our conclusion after three interesting days at Photonics West 2025:

This year’s trade show was a resounding success for INGENERIC! Our extensive expertise and years of experience in developing and producing intelligent optical solutions place us at the forefront of the industry, enabling us to meet even the most unique customer requirements. We are excited to continue the conversations initiated at our booth and to deliver the best optical solutions to our customers. The positive feedback and interest we received have reaffirmed our commitment to innovation and excellence. We look forward to building on these relationships and driving the future of optical technology together.
