Thomas Moser could not let go of the issue: After watching a TV program, he learned that some children in Aachen go to school without a packed lunch—and that the nonprofit organization breakfast4kids provides free meals at primary schools, daycare centers, and secondary schools.
„Since learning about breakfast4kids, I have been looking for a way to contribute to ensuring that all children in the region receive a proper breakfast on every school day,” said Moser. “That’s why I immediately suggested to my employer that we support this organization with a donation when employees were asked for Christmas ideas. While this means we will be sending out fewer gifts this year, we are confident that our business partners will support this worthwhile cause.”

His proposal was well received both in a company-wide employee vote and by the management team. As a result, €1,500 will now be donated to breakfast4kids.
Through donations and the work of dedicated volunteers, breakfast4kids provides more than 900 children in Aachen, Alsdorf, Brühl, Eschweiler, Herzogenrath, Cologne, Stolberg, and Würselen with a fresh and healthy packed lunch every day. Children who, for various reasons, do not receive breakfast at home can thus be reliably supported. The organization currently serves 30 primary schools, one secondary school, and one daycare center. All volunteers work hand in hand: early every morning, long before classes begin, more than 900 fresh bread rolls are prepared, filled, hygienically packaged, and delivered on time.
“The cost of providing meals to these children currently exceeds €180,000 per year,” said Achim Monnartz, Chairman of the association. “That is a significant amount, which is why we welcome any form of support and donation.”
Dr. Stefan Hambücker, Managing Director of INGENERIC, was pleased to support his employee’s idea: “We are delighted that our donation enables us to provide targeted and tangible support within the Aachen region.”
Dr. Hambücker is deeply rooted in the region: he grew up here, studied at RWTH Aachen University, and, after completing his PhD at the Fraunhofer IPT, co-founded INGENERIC together with Dr. Olaf Rübenach. Although INGENERIC operates internationally, it remains closely connected to the region.
