INGENERIC Fast-Axis-Collimation

Precision Glass Micro-Optics for High-Performance Laser Systems

INGENERIC FACs

FAC optics made of high-precision glass are key components for beam shaping in modern high-power diode lasers. They collimate the highly divergent fast axis of the emitter, thereby ensuring stable, efficient, and reproducible beam quality.

Precision manufacturing to industrial standards:

Isothermal Precision Glass Molding

Our manufacturing process offers numerous advantages:

The result is micro-optics and lens arrays that offer series-production quality, stability, and excellent reproducibility.

Additional Services:

Coatings for Maximum Efficiency and Laser Resistance
Our FAC lenses feature high-performance AR coatings:
    - Standard broadband coatings cover the entire wavelength range from 400–2,100 nm. Customized coatings are also available.
      - Transmission >99% within the target wavelength range.
        - Minimal absorption to reduce thermal lensing and power drift.
Automated Assembly
In addition to manufacturing high-precision glass FACs, INGENERIC also offers automated assembly processes. Various tabs can be positioned with high precision and attached to the optics reproducibly. This creates pre-assembled units that can be integrated directly into customer-specific laser systems.
Customized Packaging and Supply
In addition to standard packaging, INGENERIC offers flexible packaging solutions for FACs tailored to individual customer requirements. Components can be supplied in a pick-and-place-ready format, for example in trays or gel packs. This ensures safe handling and efficient automated downstream processing.

Quality

We maintain a rigorous quality management system.

The optical elements are characterized within the production line based on their beam profile, residual divergence, and geometry along the longitudinal axis. By measuring them in the beam path, we ensure that no deviations occur that could affect the optics’ later use in the application. Combined with our reliable manufacturing technology, this allows us to guarantee optics free of secondary maxima and without a “smile.”

How is pricing calculated for INGENERIC products?
Standard Products: We offer standard price lists for quantities ranging from 10 units to high-volume orders. As a general rule, the higher the order quantity, the lower the unit price. Packaging costs are typically included in the product price, while shipping costs are borne by the customer.

Customized Products / Custom-Made Optics: For our precision glass molding process, dedicated tooling is required. Depending on the project and production volume, this may involve one or multiple molds or inserts, resulting in a one-time non-recurring engineering (NRE) and tooling cost. Product pricing is determined based on order volume, with higher quantities benefiting from lower unit prices.

Development costs depend on the complexity and size of the molds. In particular, smaller molds can often be realized more cost-effectively during the prototype or sampling phase. As projects progress toward serial production, unit costs can frequently be reduced through economies of scale. The one-time development costs also cover tooling maintenance and replacement, if required.
