Article: Monolithic Micro-Optics Open New Markets for Diode Laser Manufacturers

Aachen, 11. Mai 2018: Excerpt from the publication: Diode lasers are characterized by their compact design, high efficiency, long maintenance intervals, and high lifespan. However, for some applications – such as in material processing or medical technology – the brightness and beam quality are still insufficient. Single-mode bars have the potential to achieve high power due to the large number of individual emitters but are not yet very widespread. Micro-optics offer the possibility to significantly increase the brightness of diode lasers by collimating the emitted light. In this way, they open up new applications and enable laser manufacturers to simultaneously realize cost advantages.
